When I first mentioned to friends and family that I was flying out to Budapest to have my teeth salvaged I think most thought I was mad. 10 months later after completion of treatment, and now 2 years on I am delighted with the results.
Three years ago I went to Hungary a bit desperate. After continuous trips to shoddy depressing NHS practices and the occasional visit to expensive private clinics at home, I felt that the patch-up treatment with a different dentist each time couldn't continue. Every few months I'd be in pain, have a bit of remedial treatment, pay a fortune and worry that by 40 I'd have no teeth left. I felt ashamed and embarrassed by how I had neglected my teeth. I had read about dental tourism in Hungary in a newspaper and felt I had nothing to lose.
I went to Kreativ Dental, a bit unsure of what to expect. I'd seen the website, but still felt a bit sceptical. As I arrived in Budapest things felt good and once in the clinic any doubts I had disappeared. The clinic and the staff are tidy, smart, modern. During the initial consultation there was no finger pointing and no blame for my rotten mouthful of teeth – just a detailed matter-of-fact explanation of what was up and what they could do. Options of treatment were explained to me and it was up to me to choose. I flew home, had a quick think and embarked on an extensive treatment plan.
My treatment required several trips to Budapest. There is no denying it that at times it felt quite tough. I had so much work done (almost all of my teeth) that I didn't always make the most of my visits, but on the occasions where I felt brighter I explored the beautiful city and floated around for hours in the spa baths. On all of my visits I stayed at the Eben Hotel which Ben at Kreativ organized. It is a simple, clean, well located and reasonably priced hotel. The staff at the hotel are used to having dental tourists and nothing is too much trouble. There's no fake fuss but good genuine service.
During all of my visits I met other patients from overseas (Britain, Ireland, Norway and Denmark). It was interesting to meet people at different stages of their treatment and especially reassuring to see those on their final visit once their treatment had been completed. Throughout, I did not feel alone.
Dramatic as it may sound; my new teeth have made such a difference to my life. It is really great to be able to laugh and smile freely and to be free of pain. I am very grateful to all those who have helped me and I admire their work.
My experience has been excellent. I recommend Kreativ Dental to anyone who is need of professional dental attention.
